Biography

Actress and singer Isabel Schwartzbach trained at the Danish National Academy of Music, majoring in classical voice, as well as studying under famed coloratura soprano Louise Fribo. She furthered her studies at Stella Adler Studio of Acting’s 3-year Conservatory in New York City. She is one of the most sought after musical theatre and crossover sopranos in Denmark, and her striking vocal ability has garnered numerous roles and concerts in crossover-settings for which she has received critical acclaim and accolades such as the Inge Dam’s Grant for Young, Promising Actors, bestowed by legendary actor Per Pallesen.

In 2018 Schwartzbach starred as Maria, the lead role in the first major professional production of West Side Story in Denmark in years (Aarhus Theater and Aalborg Theater). Immediately following West Side Story, she starred as Christine Daaé in Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera at The New Theatre, Copenhagen, in 2018-2019. Other professional credits include Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music (Hedeland Amphitheater), Cosette in Les Misérables (Aarhus Theater), Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof (The New Theater), and Violetta the opera diva in Pretty Woman – the Musical on Danish national tour.

In the spring of 2025 Schwartzbach will once again star as Maria in The Sound of Music, this time at The New Theater (1000+ seats) in Copenhagen.

In May 2024 Isabel Schwartzbach debuted with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra as a soloist alongside famed Faroese singer Eivør at their concert series, GAMING X SYMPHONY. Other credits include being a soloist with The Odense Symphony Orchestra, The Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, The Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, The Tivoli Promenade Orchestra, and the Danish Chamber Orchestra. TV credits include performing at the annual music award show P3 Guld (DR1 national broadcast) with renowned Danish R&B singer Burhan G as well as multiple live performances on Good Morning Denmark (TV2, national broadcast) both as a musical theatre soprano as well as performing her own music. She recently captivated the audience with her stunning performance of Ennio Morricone’s “Once Upon a Time in the West” at the 2023 annual benefit in the fight against cancer (Knæk Cancer, TV2, national broadcast).

Furthermore, Schwartzbach released her first single, Molly Malone, in April 2024. Her second single, Shenandoah, was released in June 2024 and they are both preceding a full EP with Schwartzbach’s interpretations of folk music. Her refreshing take on the traditional songs combining folk, pop, and classical elements has already garnered significant press coverage. Schwartzbach furthermore works as a voice actress for Netflix and Disney, including being the Danish voice of Belle in Disney on Ice and Isabel Fezziwig in Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, an original netflix movie.
