The sound of music

  • Det Ny Teater 29 Gammel Kongevej København, 1610 Denmark (map)

Isabel Schwartzbach stars as Maria Rainer in "The Sound of Music," playing Wednesday through Sunday with six performances per week from February 6 to April 27. The production embodies joy and profound family ties, based on a true story. The young novice Maria Rainer becomes the governess to Captain von Trapp's seven children, who are raised with strict military discipline. She quickly gains the children's trust and gradually wins their father's heart.

"The Sound of Music" also tells the compelling and dramatic tale of the steadfast von Trapp, who refuses to compromise with Nazism as the Germans march into Austria.

The musical's songs, including "Edelweiss," "My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," and "Climb Every Mountain," are timeless classics today.

Det Ny Teater's production of "The Sound of Music" is the only show to have twice received the Reumert Award for Musical Theatre of the Year.

Featuring over 50 performers, including actors, singers, dancers, and musicians.
